Ali Farka Touré was a Malian musician and songwriter. He is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential African musicians of the 20th century. His music drew on traditional African rhythms, blues, and jazz, and focused on themes of love, spirituality, and social justice. He won several prestigious awards during his career, including three Grammy Awards. Touré died in 2006 at the age of 66.
