Neutral Milk Hotel was an American indie rock band formed in Ruston, Louisiana in 1989 by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Jeff Mangum. They released two highly influential albums in the late 1990s, "On Avery Island" and "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea," before disbanding in 1999. Their music is known for its unique blend of lo-fi, acoustic instrumentation, and emotive songwriting, and has been praised for its raw energy and emotional intensity.
