Yusef Lateef was an American jazz multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator. He is known for his pioneering experimentation with world music and incorporating non-Western instruments into his music. He released over 70 albums and collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz. He was also a prominent educator, teaching at institutions such as the Manhattan School of Music and Amherst College. Lateef passed away in 2013 at the age of 93.
