She released her debut album "Sprained Ankle" in 2015 and has since gained critical acclaim for her introspective and emotional lyrics set to sparse, guitar-driven melodies. Her music often deals with themes of mental health, addiction, and spirituality. She has also been a member of the supergroup Boygenius, alongside fellow singer-songwriters Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus.
