Thelonious Monk was an American jazz pianist and composer. He is considered one of the most important musicians in the development of bebop and is known for his unique approach to chord structures and his idiosyncratic playing style. Monk was active from the 1940s until his death in 1982 and made numerous influential recordings throughout his career.
