48 Chairs was an English post-punk band formed in 1979 by members of two previous bands, The Desperate Bicycles and This Heat. Their music was experimental and avant-garde, incorporating elements of art rock and electronic music. They released their debut album, "70% Paranoid," in 1981 and disbanded shortly after. The band achieved a small cult following and their music has been cited as an influence by later experimental rock bands.
